Capital Campaign

http://www.bacwest.com/capital.html

Over the years Capital Campaigns have evolved from mammoth campaigns with hundreds of volunteers and staff to today when campaigns are much smaller both in structure and length of time and are highly volunteer oriented.
Few Capital Campaigns for other than major institutions take more than 12  to 18 months to complete and are more recently designed to be conducted by development staff with the assistance of a consultant. In organizations that have no development department staff, they usually opt to have on-site campaign direction, that is, an on-site Campaign Director/Consultant who works 24/7 on their project.
We at Bradley Associates are proud to provide staffing whether you need it for a couple days a month or full-time on-site Director. We are in position to provide that staff to help achieve your goals in the shortest possible time line.
The ultimate success of a Capital Campaign for significant funding support of specific programs or projects, always goes back to the essential "pre-campaign" tasks that either were or were not accomplished prior to the start of the campaign. A stalled Capital Campaign is most likely the result of insufficient preparation. No Capital Campaign preparation step is more important than the Capital Campaign Planning Study (or Feasibility Study).
Here are our thoughts regarding the all-important Capital Campaign Planning Study:
  • It can be argued that a Study is the single most important planning step for a successful capital campaign.
  • A Study offers the unique opportunity for an "outside set of eyes and ears" to ask important questions of potential campaign leaders and potential donors, and to receive candid and accurate answers from them regarding critical campaign feasibility issues.
  • It does matter who the outside consultant and Study Director is. The professionalism of this individual reflects back to the client. Bradley Associatesassigns its best staff for Study Director positions and values the client image in the community to the highest degree.
A client should expect the following "deliverables" from a Study:
  • A complete written, and thorough study report
  • A professional presentation to client leadership groups
  • Confidential executive and management reports for key leadership
  • Comprehensive recommendations that address all angles of funding feasibility
  • Recommendations for goals, leadership, campaign structure and timing
We would be happy to provide a 10 page self analysis to determine your readiness to begin a Capital Campaign. Request a copy.
We are prepared to help you and will provide consulting services as needed.

Executive Coaching

http://www.bacwest.com/executive_coaching.html

The coaching that we provide has two components: coaching the organization and for the individual.
The organizational coaching relates to the institution itself, including budget, planning, staffing, marketing, and fundraising.
The individual coaching covers several areas, all which support the organization. Coaching consists of one on-site session per month, for approximately six months. At each session we work on various items that have been predetermined, to reach our goals. These individual goals match up to the organizational goals.
We examine and evaluate your personal plan and that of the organization; we will help you to think differently about how to build your career, and how to communicate your skills, strengths, and assets to your target employer. With our coaching and program, you will learn to use these skills to give you the opportunity to thrive in the world today. One of the approaches that we use is a five step program:
  • To build a clear vision of your career
  • Identify your personal image, or unique brand
  • Develop a branded resume or CV, and professional bio
  • Create an on-line identity
  • Apply key tools and strategies for long term career management and professional growth
Of course each one of these items relates to not only the individual but also to the organization. It gives us the opportunity to work together in developing a strategic long term plan for both, which will strengthen not only the individual, but all the programs within the organization as well.
The coaching program includes unlimited e-mails related to the organization and the individual, one on-site meeting per month to develop the work plan and strategic plan, and goals for both the individual and the organization. It also includes a weekly e-mail, which would move towards the setting of the goals and benchmarks, and report as to where we are in relation to them. These weekly meetings can be either by email or telephone.
Our philosophy is that if the individual is happy and successful and knows where he or she is going, the organization will also flourish with the program.

PEORIA, Ill. (WTHI) - The Indiana State baseball team broke out the bats in their series finale against the Bradley Braves on Sunday, scoring 12 runs in the first three innings to cruise to a seven-inning, 14-3 victory at O’Brien Field.
ISU (28-9, 8-4 MVC) won their fourth straight MVC series, their longest string since winning five in a row to start the 1998 campaign. Bradley falls to 18-14-1 on the season and 4-5 in league play.
Indiana State scored in the first inning for the second straight game, as redshirt junior Koby Kraemer tallied a one-out single, moving to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a sacrifice fly to center by junior Robby Ort.
The Sycamores broke the game open in the second inning, plating eight runs on four hits, their highest single-inning output in MVC play this season. The big hits in the inning came in the form of a two-run double to right by junior Jeremy Lucas and a three-run home run to left by senior Jon Hedges. The home run was the sixth of the season for Hedges.
After the Braves hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning, ISU responded with three runs of their own in the top half of the third, as Lucas hit his team-leading eighth home run of the season during the inning as ISU went up 12-2.
ISU scored their final runs of the day in the fifth inning, as Ort grounded into a fielder’s choice to plate senior Lucas Hileman and Hedges picked up his fourth RBI of the game with a single to shallow right.
Junior Ryan Torgerson (6-1) tossed all seven innings for Indiana State on Sunday, scattering seven hits and three runs while striking out three.
Kraemer led ISU with three hits, with Hedges picking up four RBIs. Lucas went 2-for-2 with three runs batted in, a solo home run and two runs scored.
After playing 29 of their 39 games away from home this season, Indiana State returns to Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium for 15 of their final 20 games. ISU begins a 12-game homestand this Tuesday, when the Sycamores host Valparaiso at 6:00 p.m.

Bradley Davies insists players must take blame for Cardiff Blues' fall from grace

BLUES lock Bradley Davies is adamant the players must take full responsibility for their fifth defeat in a row.
The Welsh international defended under-fire coaches Gareth Baber and Justin Burnell after the Ospreys ended their hopes of reaching the RaboDirect Pro12 play-offs.
Six Nations Grand Slam winner Davies spoke with typical honesty as he addressed the 33-12 defeat at Cardiff City Stadium.
“It’s easy to blame off-the- field things and who is leaving but it comes down to personal and team performances on it,” he said.
Davies, who was captain against the Ospreys, insisted: “We’re letting ourselves down.
“You can’t blame the coaches. We have been embarrassed by how we have played during the last couple of weeks. We have created an environment which is not good enough.
“No-one likes losing, especially against our arch-rivals the Ospreys. We competed well for 60 minutes and then kind of crumbled. Our scrum has been under pressure the last couple of weeks.
“It’s not down to a lack of effort – we’ve being banging them out in training.
“We’re a bit naive and inexperienced but the only way to improve it is on the training field.
“Personally, I’m a bit embarrassed and there are a lot of forwards embarrassed in the dressing room.
“We’ve got a lot of youngsters. They’re inexperienced at the moment. They have to learn you can’t switch off.
“That’s (Ospreys pulling away) what happens when you do. They built pressure from the scrum and they kind of bulldozed us in the end.
“We have got two big games left to prove something. We are back in on Monday morning and must be harsh on ourselves.
“It’s up to us youngsters to build for next season. We have to take it on the chin, work hard next week, focus on our two remaining matches and next season.
“We need to try and finish on a high against Edinburgh and the Scarlets.
“If you look at the boys who are staying and coming through, we have got something to build on for next season.
“Edinburgh are playing good rugby at the moment. If we can get a win we will have a bit of confidence to go into the Scarlets game.
“The main thing is to stop this rot because our performance on the field isn’t good enough.”
Blues have followed up the signing of Wales lock Lou Reed and Ulster reserve hooker Andi Kyriacou from the Scarlets by recruiting Fiji loose-head prop Campese Ma’afu and Rotherham blindside flanker Robin Copeland on two-year deals.
Perpignan’s 26-year-old third-choice tight-head prop BenoĆ®t Bourrust is also set to join them.
Meanwhile, the Blues will play their final home Pro12 match of a disappointing campaign, against Edinburgh, at Cardiff City Stadium next Sunday.
There had been speculation they would switch it to Cardiff Arms Park but major road-works in Westgate Street ruled out the possibility.
